Conformance status

Target: WCAG 2.1, Level AA

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. This site is designed and built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

We consider the site partially conformant: it meets most of the standard, but it has not yet completed a full independent audit, so some content may not yet meet every success criterion. We're actively working to close any gaps.

What we've built in

Accessibility tools are available on every page from the controls in the lower corners of the screen:

• Listen (read-aloud). A built-in screen reader narrates the page with a follow-along highlight — using high-quality recorded narration where available, or your browser's voice otherwise.
• Multiple languages. Read or hear the site in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, French, or Haitian Creole.
• Hands-free voice commands. Say things like “services”, “listen”, “donate”, or “top of page” to navigate without a mouse or keyboard (in supporting browsers).
• Reading comfort. Larger text, high contrast, readable spacing, a readable font, underlined links, a bigger cursor, and a reading guide — each remembered on your device.
• Reduced motion. All animation is turned off automatically when your system requests reduced motion, and can be switched off manually.
• Select to speak. Highlight any text to hear it read aloud.
• Keyboard friendly. Every control is reachable and operable with the keyboard, with a “skip to content” link and clear focus outlines.

Technical specifications

Accessibility relies on the following technologies working with your browser and any assistive technologies installed:

• HTML with semantic structure and landmarks
• WAI-ARIA for state and labelling
• CSS (visual styling degrades gracefully)
• JavaScript as progressive enhancement — the content is fully readable without it

Compatibility

The site is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) and common screen readers. Voice commands and some premium voices require a recent Chromium-based browser; everything else has a built-in fallback.

Known limitations

Despite our best efforts, some limitations remain. We list them here so you know what to expect:

• Illustrations are decorative artwork with text alternatives; they convey mood rather than precise data.
• Voice commands depend on your browser's speech-recognition support and microphone permission.
• Donation is handled on a third-party site whose accessibility we don't control.
• Translations are machine-assisted and may contain occasional inaccuracies.
