EMERGENCY RESOURCES
Temperatures will only be in the mid to upper 50s this afternoon. Temps will initially drop into the upper 40s this evening before beginning to rise overnight resulting in temperatures in the low 60s by Tuesday morning. Warmer weather will be accompanied by scattered showers and breezy conditions out the door tomorrow. The wind will steadily build through the morning hours with sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph and wind gusts over 40 mph by lunchtime. As we head from lunchtime into the afternoon we’ll transition from scattered rain to the threat of thunderstorms. A few storms, ahead of the main line of bad weather, could develop by early Tuesday afternoon. Unusually strong upper and lower-level winds could lead to an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms, including the potential for a few tornadoes across the Carolinas. The main line of storms will likely race across the area west to east between 3-7 PM. This line will likely contain heavy rainfall, very gusty winds, and the potential of a few severe storms. Once the line moves offshore, the wind will drop drastically although remaining breezy overnight and into the day Wednesday. A High Wind Watch is in effect along the coast for the potential of wind gusts to 60 mph. A Wind Advisory has been issued for inland counties where wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible.
